Wolves find themselves 13th in the league with just 15 points from their 14 EPL games this season, but these stats don’t tell the full story. Gary O’Neill’s side have been on the wrong end of some shocking decisions from officials that have cost them dearly. They could easily be much higher up the table and have been particularly impressive against the top clubs, beating Man City and Tottenham and securing a draw with Newcastle.

The West Midlander fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat at league leaders Arsenal at the weekend and will hope to respond with a home win. It may not be an easy task, however, as Burnley enter the game full of confidence after securing a thumping 5-0 victory over fellow strugglers Sheffield United. Manager Vincent Kompany will have been delighted to see his side keep a clean sheet and showcase the attacking talent that saw them light up the Championship last season.

Wolverhampton will try to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to the Premier League-leading Arsenal over the weekend. Matheus Cunha found the only goal of the match for the Wolves after Arsenal got out to a 2-0 lead within the first 15 minutes of regulation.

Burnley finds itself energized off a rare win — and a dominant one at that. Five of Burnley’s players scored in their 5-0 shutout win over Sheffield United, including a first-minute goal by Jay Rodriguez.

Burnley is now 2-1-11 and in 19th place in the league, while the Wolves are 4-3-7 and 13th in the standings. These sides haven’t met since a club friendly in July 2022, which the Wolves won 3-0. Here’s how to watch and stream the game.

The Clarets had won one game in their opening 13 before fellow new boys Sheffield United rolled into town. Vincent Kompany's men defeated the 10-man Blades 5-0 in a sorely needed, pressure-relieving afternoon at Turf Moor.

Burnley face a huge test of their character now: win again. If Kompany's side are to clamber free of the drop zone, they must pull together a consistent run of form at some stage. There's no time like the present.

Wolves aren't quite in the same dire predicament but their form is not a great deal more encouraging with three defeats in their last four. Gary O'Neil's team can hoist themselves into contention for a top-half finish with a victory here but defeat could see them slide closer to the relegation mire.

While Burnley has been one of the league’s also-rans this season and sits one rung up from the bottom of the Premier League table with 7 points, it ended a seven-match losing streak in style on Saturday with a 5-0 win over Sheffield United at Turf Moor.

Jay Rodriguez, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Zeki Amdouni, Luca Koleosho and Josh Brownhill scored the goals in the win as the Clarets capitalized on a 19-6 advantage in shots.

That latest setback was 2-1 to Arsenal on Saturday in a match in which they fell behind by two goals in the first 13 minutes and then played tough the rest of the way against one of the league’s top teams.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya didn’t have a save to make until the 52nd, when he blocked a shot by Matheus Cunha from a tight angle. Saka nearly curled in a long-range strike that went just over the bar in the 75th, and Bentley pulled off a double save to deny Leandro Trossard and Saka in the 82nd.

Then, out of nowhere, Wolves was revived when Arsenal failed to clear the ball in its area and it fell to Cunha, who swept it past Raya at the 86-minute mark.

Wolverhampton can only go 1-1 at best against Arsenal this season after their first game on Saturday. They put up a good fight, but they still had to settle for second after a 2-1 defeat on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Arsenal: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Burnley had to suffer through a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They didn't even let Sheffield onto the board and left with a 5-0 win on Saturday. The last goal Burnley scored came from Josh Brownhill in minute 80.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were expected to be in the thick of the relegation battle in the Premier League this season. Coming off an uninspiring performance in 2022-23, Wolves lost a handful of key players in the summer transfer window and never replaced them, which caused manager Julen Lopetegui to quit.

The vibes were bad, the roster looked thin and there was an expectation that the bottom of the Premier League would be stronger than it had been in season’s past. All of this added up to a bad situation for Wolves and they became a very popular bet to be relegated.

Not only are Wolves in a pretty comfortable position with 15 points from their first 14 matches, but they’ve also collected wins against Manchester City and Tottenham to go along with draws against Liverpool and Newcastle.

Wolves look like they could be the giant killers in the Premier League this season. Too bad they’re playing 19th-place Burnley on Tuesday afternoon.

It’s a dangerous game to just put teams in buckets when it comes to betting and never adjust, but Wolverhampton seem to fit a certain profile this season. Wolves are a team you want to back as an underdog, but fade as a favorite. This isn’t all that surprising since we saw manager Gary O’Neil run a similar program at Bournemouth in 2022-23.

Wolverhampton is perfectly comfortable in bend-but-don’t-break scenarios. They give up plenty of shots and don’t take many themselves, but they do a reasonable job preventing big scoring chances against and creating good looks when they do get into good areas. Wolverhampton is also the best team in the Premier League when it comes to defending set pieces.

Burnley have been a mess this season, but they should feel right at home in this kind of match. The Clarets want to engage their opponents in a back-and-forth match and put pressure to force turnovers, but that is a dangerous game to play when you’re newly promoted into the Premier League. The cold reality is that Burnley just doesn’t have the pieces to outplay most teams in the top division.
